Foot-and-mouth disease is an acute, feverish, highly contagious infectious disease that coexists in major livestock such as swine, livestock and sheep, as well as domesticated and wild artiodactyls. The number of animals that can be easily attacked by this disease reaches over 70. Clinical symptoms consist of vesiculobullous rashes occurring on mouth mucosa, hoof and breast skin. Featured with multiple transmission routes and a high transmission rate, it used to break out and become prevalent worldwide repeatedly, which gives rise to great political and economic losses.
Sheep brucellosis is an infectious disease that attacks both human beings and livestock. For it, major sources of infection are affected animals and microorganisms. Especially, it is most likely for pregnant ewe to be affected. Sheep brucellosis cannot immediately break out once the sheep are infected with it; in other words, a certain incubation period exists. If an ewe is attacked by sheep brucellosis, main symptoms include abortion within 1st-2nd month of her gestation period. The aborted fetus is dead in most cases; and, pathogenic bacteria are also present in it.
Goat PPR, also known as peste des petits ruminants, is an acute and feverish infectious disease caused by peste des petits ruminants virus of morbillivirus in paramyxoviridae. Clinically manifested in acute fever, its major symptoms include fever, running nose and diarrhea. With an incidence rate reaching 100%, its mortality rate is up to 100% in a case of severe outbreak.
Hydatidovis has a rather extensive distribution range and features high incidence and death rates. It may incur huge losses in sheep husbandry. It used to emerge in an endemic way in northeastern China, Inner Mongolia and northwestern China. It is most likely for baby sheep to be infected; and, the highest incidence rate is found among sheep of 1 year old; regarding sheep at least 3 years old, it is less likely for them to be attacked. Its onset usually takes place in spring and autumn; and, no apparent sex differences lie in them.
